Triathlonish maternity leave
All sporters, this is just a quick note to remind you that the regular Wednesday newsletter will be back at the end of March, while I'm out right now creating a new person. And I wanted to let you all know: We welcomed triathlon’s newest future star this past weekend 👶🏼
I have a longer pre-written piece ready to go, too, on training during pregnancy and athlete resources (for those who are interested), because it continues to be a hot topic. But, considering I just got more than two hours of sleep for the first time since Thursday, I'm pretty sure I shouldn't be making any copyediting choices right now. So I'll be holding that for a little bit.
You'll also get the first of our two guest newsletters next week at the regular Wednesday time.
However, just because I don't have a lot of coherent analysis or writing ability right now doesn't mean I haven't been spending a lot of time sitting on the couch scrolling my phone while holding a sleeping kid. Isn't that parenting? So yes, this is the craziest triathlon news of the last two weeks. I have no idea whether or not Imogen is telling the truth about PED contamination or not -- I like her and I tend to be inclined to agree that our antidoping system doesn't hold up to our standards of liability and justice, but also her story is WILD (not the contamination part, the not knowing your longtime significant other is doping part) and I think we should also probably examine how/why the community reacts one way to this news v. previous antidoping news. I’ll also re-share here our old piece on how anti-doping works in long course tri; just as an fyi.
That's all for now, back before tri season really gets started…
